Last King of Scotland, Jay-Z and Fela Kuti – Free mixtape, podcast and theatre
This is some what old news, but thought that I would make a summary of the Afrobeat sphere.
If you've familiar with The Last King of Scotland Soundtrack. You might also be familiar with Fela Kuti, and his world-renowned drummer Tony Allen. Anyway, they are said to be the pioneers of Afrobeat some 40 years back. I won't say revival, but they are making headlines. Again...
Jay-Z and Will Smith presents Fela!
This is a most-see if you are anyway near the heart of NY. Premiering last November, it will run until June 2010. Get tickets and more info
